Michelle and Aly's Natural Horsemanship Story
Aly is an off track Thoroughbred (OTTB) chestnut gelding.
When I first met Michelle and Aly it was obvious they felt comfortable with one another. Michelle provided a safe place for Aly and in return Aly has responded with trust and respect. That's what it is all about! Aly and Michelle have completed their Level 2 Parelli course and are looking forward to more learning curves. Michelle can be seen at Campbell Valley Park riding Aly bareback with just a rope halter on. How cool is that?
Aly was adopted through New Stride Thoroughbred Foundation. Click on the link to see what New Stride is doing for these wonderful creatures.
I have heard good and bad scenarios in owning an OTTB, this is why a few clinics in Natural Horsemanship would help the new horse owner or the new Thoroughbred horse owner.
We as human beings need to stop being the predator towards our horse therefore I highly recommend the horsemanship clinics to guide you. It is only through trust and respect that we can have a solid relationship with our horses.
You cannot handle a hot blooded horse with screaming and rough hands. This only leads to a relationship built on fear and when you go out on the trail one day and something scares your hot blooded horse he/she will not listen to you because you haven't been a good leader. Your horse will act on his/her own instinct and you may very well be killed in the process.
If only you had listened to your horse in the first place!
